Thank you! I definitely see where you are coming from as I am a big proponent of quality notes. Some people have been complaining about having too many notes and the board being too cluttered. Hey! You're right, I misspoke! The liver uses GLUT2, which are insulin-independent. In type I diabetes where ß-cells are destroyed, there is a lack of insulin. This insulin deficiency leads to overstimulation of glucuneogenesis, which in turn depletes the oxaloacetate supply. Not having enough oxaloacetate means that the acetyl-CoA are used to generate ketone bodies, leading to acidosis.
